TAKE YOUR DANCING TO THE NEXT LEVEL
WHAT IS BODY MOVEMENT?
Body movement refers to any movement involving the spine, shoulders, ribcage, hips, and arms…basically every part of the body we use in Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Ballroom, Swing…ok all styles of dancing.
BODY MOVEMENT, SIMPLIFIED
Here's the deal, body movement isn't inherently difficult or complicated. However, if isolations, body rolls, and undulations are new to you, they can make you feel like you aren't the owner of your body. This can be discouraging, making it feel like an unachievable goal. That's why I created this course; to help people understand that all you need is comprehension, consistency, and 8-25 minutes a day to completely transform your posture, mobility, & quality of movement. This course consists of bite-size lessons, breaking down body movement in each section of the spine, shoulders, arms, and hips. We move through the body sequentially, building a solid foundation, and ultimately coordinate everything together in full body exercises.
WEEK 1
We begin this course at the top of the spine, liberating the neck, shoulders and chest. We use subtle exercises to release tension and learn how the cervical and upper thoracic spine work together.
WEEK 2
Now we move into the shoulder/chest/ribcage relationship. We perform ribcage isolations, explore different types of shoulder movements, and learn where arm movements initiate. Our goal this week is to find continuity in the thoracic spine, shoulders, and arms
Week 3
This week is focused on circular movements and undulations. We work on the ribcage and hips separately, and then together, creating torso circles, body rolls, and other sequencing actions.
Week 4
In our final week we put everything together into full body movements and exercises. We work on bounce, full spine undulations, and dynamic poses.
BONUS LESSONS
To give you the best experience possible, I've also included 3 bonus lessons in this course: All-purpose Warm-up, Salsa Warm-up, and All-purpose cool down.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I named this course Bootcamp, knowing that it may potentially be misleading as this isn't a workout course. The reason I call it Bootcamp, is because it's simple, effective, and relies on your commitment and consistency. Luckily, with these brief, follow-along lessons, sticking to it is easy.
In each of the 4 weeks of this course, we tackle a specific area of the body and repeat simple movements to help gain mobility, flexibility, and coordination.
Some results of this course may be:
- Improved corporal awareness
- Better Posture
- More natural looking movements
- Better fluidity
- More flexibility in neck, torso, shoulders, and hips
- Increased ability to perform body rolls, torso circles, arm movements, and undulations
- Better coordination and ease in movements
- Understanding of continuity and movement initiation
BODY MOVEMENT BOOTCAMP
WHY LEARN FROM TARA?
Over the course of my 32 year dancing career, I've studied a wide range of dance styles such as competitive ballroom & latin, salsa, bachata, swing, rumba, & afrocuban dances, all of which require an elevated understanding of body movement.
I've been teaching these dance styles professionally for 10 years, and I created this course with my students in mind. I know how difficult it can be to accomplish body movement from my first hand experiences with people of all ages and levels. Using the exercises, information, and techniques that I share in this course, my students have seen incredible results, and I know you will too.
